Stephen M. Thompson practices in the areas of natural resources, tax, trusts and estates, and corporate law. He specializes in business transactions and tax law, with an emphasis on the oil and gas industry. He serves as counsel to business enterprises, primarily in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Thompson has extensive experience in structuring oil and gas ventures, including entity formation, exploration agreements and operating agreements. Mr. Thompson is a former adjunct professor of law in the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program. Mr. Thompson is a 1971 graduate of Princeton University, where he graduated cum laude with an A.B. degree in Economics. He received his J.D. degree in 1974, and his L.L.M. degree in Taxation in 1978, from the University of Denver College of Law. Mr. Thompson is admitted to practice law in Colorado, Wyoming and before the United States Tax Court. A former Chairman of the Mineral Section of the Colorado Bar Association, he is a member of the Denver, Colorado, Wyoming and American Bar Associations and the Natural Resources & Energy Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
