William G. Odell, Member

William G. Odell has been with the firm since 1966, and has specialized
in natural resource law for over fifty years. Prior to joining the firm,
Mr. Odell worked in the Gulf Oil Corporation Land Department and in the
Carter Oil Company Land Scouting Department (a subsidiary of Standard
Oil Company, later to become Humble Oil & Refining Company). He also
worked in the Humble Oil Company and Mobil Oil Corporation Legal
Departments. Mr. Odell received his A.B. degree from the University of
Oklahoma in 1952, and in 1954 earned his L.L.B. degree from the
University of Oklahoma College of Law. He has served as chairman of the
Legal Committee of the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Association and the
State Land Subcommittee of the Mineral and Natural Resources Section of
the American Bar Association. Mr. Odell is admitted to practice law in
Colorado, Oklahoma, and Montana. He is a member of the American,
Colorado, Montana, Oklahoma, and Denver Bar Associations, and the
Natural Resources & Energy Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
Randall M. Case, Member

Randall M. Case is a specialist in the areas of natural resource and
corporate law, and has over twenty-five years' experience in the oil and
gas industry. Mr. Case represents oil and gas companies of all sizes, in
matters related to the acquisition, development, and operation of oil
and gas properties. His corporate practice includes business formation,
acquisition, and other related transactional matters. Mr. Case has been
actively involved in the legal education programs of the Rocky Mountain
Mineral Law Foundation. He has chaired the program committee responsible
for establishing the Foundation's annual week-long short course on
federal oil and gas law and has chaired the Foundation's special
institute dealing with the 1987 amendments to the federal oil and gas
leasing statutes. Mr. Case was a member of the faculty of the federal
oil and gas course for several years and has been one of the
Foundation's annual institute speakers several times. He has also served
as a trustee of the Foundation since 1981, and was the Foundation's
president from 1989-1990. Mr. Case attended the University of Colorado
at Boulder and the United States Naval Academy, where he obtained a B.S.
degree in 1965. He earned his J.D. degree from the University of Denver
College of Law in 1973, after serving as a nuclear submarine officer in
the United States Navy from 1965 to 1970. Mr. Case is admitted to
practice law in Colorado, North Dakota and Wyoming. He is a member of the American,
Colorado, Wyoming, and Denver Bar Associations, the Natural Resources &
Energy Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, and the Denver
Association of Petroleum Landmen.
Stephen M. Thompson, Member

Stephen M. Thompson practices in the areas of natural resource, tax,
real estate, trusts and estates, and corporate law. He specializes in
business transactions and tax law, with an emphasis on the oil and gas
industry. He serves as counsel to a wide variety of business
enterprises, primarily in the oil, gas, and real estate industries. Mr.
Thompson has extensive experience in structuring both domestic and
foreign oil and gas ventures, including entity formation, exploration
agreements, and operating agreements. He also has considerable
experience in the acquisition and development of residential real estate
properties. In addition, Mr. Thompson is a former adjunct professor of
law in the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program. Mr. Thompson is a
1971 graduate of Princeton University, where he graduated cum laude with
an A.B. degree in Economics. He received his J.D. degree in 1974, and
his L.L.M. degree in Taxation in 1978, from the University of Denver
College of Law. Mr. Thompson is admitted to practice law in Colorado,
Wyoming, and before the United States Tax Court. A former Chairman of
the Mineral Section of the Colorado Bar Association, he is a member of
the Denver, Colorado, Wyoming, and American Bar Associations, and the
Natural Resources & Energy Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
Scott M. Campbell, Member

Scott M. Campbell practices primarily in the area of natural resource
litigation. He also has experience in appellate, bankruptcy, commercial,
collections, and probate practice. Mr. Campbell graduated from
Pennsylvania State University in 1989, where he obtained a B.S. degree
in Mineral Economics, with a Minor in the Legal Environment of Business.
He obtained his J.D. degree in 1994 from the University of Denver
College of Law. Mr. Campbell was a General Editor of the Denver
University Law Review and a member of the international legal fraternity
of Phi Delta Phi. He also interned for one semester in the Federal
District Court for the District of Connecticut, under the tutelage of
the Honorable Warren E. Eginton. Mr. Campbell is admitted to practice
law in Colorado and Wyoming, before the Federal District Court for the
District of Colorado, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth
Circuit, and the United States Court of Federal Claims. Mr Campbell is a
member of the Denver and Colorado Bar Associations, and the Natural
Resources & Energy Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
Paul Upsons, Member

Paul Upsons practices in the area of natural resource law. After
being admitted to the Colorado bar in 1994, he practiced as a
transactional and litigation attorney for several years in the areas of
water law, zoning, and land use. Since joining the firm in 2001, Mr.
Upsons has practiced in the area of oil and gas law, including title
examination and the preparation of oil and gas title opinions. He has
written articles for The Colorado Lawyer, The Rocky Mountain Landman,
and he is the updating author of the chapter
on Bonds in The Law of Federal Oil and Gas Leases. Mr. Upsons has given
presentations on real property and natural resources law issues to
various organizations, including a presentation of a paper at the Rocky
Mountain Mineral Law Foundation's 2007 Special Institute on Mineral
Title Examination. He obtained a B.A. degree from the University of
Denver in 1991, with a double major in History and English, and a J.D.
degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 1994. While in
law school, Mr. Upsons won first place in the Colorado Bar Association's
Natural Resources Writing Competition. He is admitted to practice law in
Colorado, Wyoming and North Dakota, and is a member of the Rocky
Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and the Natural Resources and Energy Law
Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
Estee A. Sanchez, Member

Estee A. Sanchez has practiced in the area of natural resources law
since she joined the firm in 2001. Ms. Sanchez earned her B.A. degree in
Psychology, with honors, with double minors in Philosophy and Business
Administration, from the University of Denver in 1994. She earned her
J.D. degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 2000. Ms.
Sanchez is admitted to practice in Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, and before
the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Ms. Sanchez is
the updating author for the Chapter on Royalties in the Law of Federal
Oil and Gas Leasing, the updating author for the chapter on Oil & Gas in
the Annual Survey of Colorado Law, and has written articles for the
Rocky Mountain Landman. Ms. Sanchez is a member of the American,
Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, and Adams/Broomfield Bar Associations; the
Natural Resources & Energy Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association;
the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation; the Denver Association of
Petroleum Landmen; and the Denver Association of Oil and Gas Title
Lawyers.
Greg Creer, Associate

Greg Creer practices in the areas of tax, estate planning, probate,
natural resources, and corporate law. He graduated from Brigham Young
University in 2001, majoring in Economics and Political Science, with
minors in Korean and Philosophy. Mr. Creer earned his J.D. from the
University of Wisconsin Law School in 2004. During law school, he served
as an Articles Editor for the Wisconsin International Law Journal and
was also published in the Wisconsin International Law Journal. After law
school, Mr. Creer worked as a judicial law clerk for the Fifth Judicial
District of Iowa. In 2006, he earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the
University of Denver. Mr. Creer is admitted to practice law in Colorado,
Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Nick A. Swartzendruber, Associate

Nick A. Swartzendruber practices primarily in the area of commercial
litigation, including natural resource litigation. He also assists
clients in various regulatory matters before state and federal agencies.
Mr. Swartzendruber received his J.D. in 2004 from the University of
Wyoming College of Law. While in law school, he served on the editorial
board of the Wyoming Law Review and was honored by several organizations
for academic achievement and excellence in advocacy. Mr. Swartzendruber
is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Colorado
and Wyoming, and before the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jeremy I. Ferrin, Associate

Jeremy I. Ferrin practices in the area of natural resources law,
including natural resources litigation. Mr. Ferrin graduated cum laude
from the University of Utah in 2001 with a B.S. degree in Environmental
Studies and a minor in Economics. Mr. Ferrin received his J.D. degree in
2007 from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. While in law
school, Mr. Ferrin was awarded both the Josiah G. Holland Memorial
Scholarship for demonstrable interest in natural resources law and the
Jan M. and Marjorie G. Laitos Scholarship for demonstrating a sincere
commitment to the study of natural resources and environmental law.
Additionally, Mr. Ferrin won the College of Law’s Natural Resource and
Environmental Law Society’s Team Appellate Competition. Mr. Ferrin is
admitted to practice law in Colorado, North Dakota and Wyoming; before
the Federal District Court for the Districts of Colorado and Wyoming;
and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
G. Donohue Kane, Of Counsel

G. Donohue Kane practices natural resources law with an emphasis on oil
and gas exploration and development. Mr. Kane advises clients on a wide
range of legal issues relating to mineral leasing and operations on
public and private lands. He represents parties in a variety of
transactions, including acquisitions and sales of oil and gas
properties, agreements for the exploration, development and operation of
natural resource assets, and compliance with federal and state
regulatory programs. Mr. Kane assists clients in negotiating and
documenting financing for acquisition and development of oil and gas
properties. He has extensive experience in examining mineral titles and
preparing title opinions. Mr. Kane received his undergraduate degree
from the University of Virginia in 1978 and his J.D. from Georgetown
University in 1981. He is a member of the Colorado Bar and the Colorado
Bar Association, where he served as Chairman of the Natural Resources &
Energy Law Section. He has written and spoken for a number of other
professional and industry organizations, including the Rocky Mountain
Mineral Law Foundation. Mr. Kane conducts his practice from Honolulu,
Hawaii.
